A leaked TV spot for the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has provided fans with new information about the game, including official confirmation of the three-headed dragon Gleeok and its Flame Gleeok variant.
The spot also revealed that Link will be seen wearing the Champion’s Tunic but with his hair down, indicating that hair customization may be more flexible than in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The underground scene in the leaked video shows a Z-coordinate of -470, suggesting that players will be able to explore deep underground locations.
Another notable detail is that Link has a single row of 17 hearts, as opposed to the 15 hearts per row in Breath of the Wild. This implies that the maximum health in Tears of the Kingdom could be larger, potentially reaching 40 hearts instead of 30.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a sequel to Breath of the Wild, retains many features from its predecessor while expanding the open-world environment of Hyrule for more vertical exploration. Development on the game began in 2017, with Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and producer Eiji Aonuma reprising their roles. The game’s title was revealed during a September 2022 Nintendo Direct, and its release is scheduled for May 12, 2023.
Tears of the Kingdom introduces new gameplay elements, such as floating islands above Hyrule that players can traverse in a manner reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Aonuma has mentioned that open-world games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have inspired the development team. The game’s development was completed on March 28, 2023, with Eiji Aonuma showcasing new abilities like Recall, Fuse, Ultrahand, and Ascend.
