Auditions for the main cast featured in the next entry in Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s action role-playing game series, Like a Dragon, have been announced.
Speaking during the latest episode of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio TV (via), Like a Dragon series director Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed that auditions for the main cast featured in the next title will be held by the studio in the near future.
According to Yokoyama says, the audition will be similar to the live hostess audition for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. He also clarified that the next game isn’t Yakuza Kiwami 3, though he suggested that he would very much like to work on it at some point.
Regarding the audition, Yokoyama stated that an announcement will be made soon, so those who want to apply should keep an eye on it. However, auditions for the lead role are not open to the public, so these public auditions will be different.
Going by Yokoyama’s statement, it appears that this new title may be a sequel to the recently released Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The latest entry features Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Kazuma Kiryu, the original series protagonist. It is set mainly in Hawaii, marking the first time the franchise ventures overseas, along with familiar locations in Japan. Kasuga seeks to reunite with his mother in Hawaii, while Kiryu grapples with cancer, fighting to survive.
The combat system, now referred to as the “Live Command RPG” Battle System, has received an overhaul over its predecessor. Each playable character now has a designated ring representing their movement area, enabling them to move freely during battles. Character positioning plays a crucial role in combat dynamics. For instance, proximity to objects, adjacency to other party members’ rings, or positioning near or behind enemies can trigger various attacks that deal additional damage.
