Microsoft is committed to expanding its games to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles, based on the latest information.
Speaking during the Q3 earnings call for Fiscal Year 2024, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that Microsoft is committed to meeting players where they are by bringing great games to more people on more devices. He mentioned that the company set third quarter records for game streaming hours, console usage, and monthly active devices.
Nadella highlighted that Microsoft added its first Activision Blizzard title, Diablo IV, to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service last month. Subscribers played over 10 million hours within the first 10 days, making it one of the biggest first party Game Pass launches ever. He also talked about being encouraged by the ongoing success of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III, as it is attracting new players and retaining franchise loyalists.
Finally, Nadella mentioned that Microsoft is expanding its games to new platforms, bringing four of the fan-favorite Xbox titles to Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation for the first time. He highlighted that, earlier this month, Microsoft had 7 games among the top 25 on the PlayStation Store, which is more than any other publisher.
On the subject of Xbox Game Pass, it was previously reported that the recent top 10 most wishlisted games on Steam included 5 titles that are headed day one to Microsoft’s gaming subscription service. Where Steam users will be required to purchase each of these games, all of them will be rolled up within the Game Pass ubscription service’s annual fee. The aforementioned games that will arrive day one on Xbox Game Pass are Manor Lords, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Frostpunk 2, Ark 2, and STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. While Ark 2, Manor Lords and Hollow Knight: Silksong have yet to receive a price tag, STALKER: Heart of Chornobyl will cost $59.99 and Frostpunk 2 will cost $44.99.
