Nintendo could be working on an announcement for a Super Mario Odyssey sequel. Their new promotional emails might suggest it.
This new update is being sent to users who have played the game on their Nintendo-linked email accounts. This email talks about the game including its worlds. The following text can be found in the email.
“Mario’s debut adventure on Nintendo Switch was his most unique one yet! From dodging devasting dinosaurs and plundering pyramids in a poncho, to getting his groove on at the New Donk City festival – the Mushroom Kingdom’s main-man truly saw some sights!
But there may be even more out there still to be discovered… Perhaps it’s worth hopping aboard The Odyssey once more and taking the trip all over again.”
While this appears to be talking about the original Super Mario Odyssey, it is surprising in that sense that Nintendo is sending them after almost six years of the launch of the original game.
Nintendo is also planning to launch its Super Mario Bros. animated movie later this year. It is being produced by Illumination with the support of Nintendo and the series creator Shigeru Miyamoto. The game has an all-star cast including Jack Black and Chris Pratt.
Super Mario Odyssey was one of the launch games for the Nintendo Switch. It is one of the highest-rated Mario games released by Nintendo. It is also one of the best-selling games in the series for a 3D platformer.
Super Mario Odyssey currently doesn’t appear to have any officially announced sequel in development, but the big success of the original release makes it hard to imagine Nintendo ignoring a sequel considering they did make one for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The successor to Breath of the Wild is titled Tears of the Kingdom and will be out later this year.
