Nintendo has rolled out a new Nintendo Switch firmware update today with system software 15.0.1. There are some hidden changes in this firmware.
The new Nintendo Switch software update can be installed without having to reboot the system. This is also called a Silent update that usually doesn’t appear to make any major changes. There are no official patch notes released for the Nintendo Switch 15.0.1 update, however, data miners have been able to get the changes implemented in this update.
Based on the data mine of the system files, these changes appear to be mostly related to the bad word lists. This stops any user who is trying to input a custom name in any of the games to change it to a bad word. The new updated words list was also shuffled to stop some of the offensive text from being accidentally blocked in other languages.
Nintendo usually releases a major firmware update for their hybrid console along with new features. They also bring new avatars for the player to use for their online profiles. This is not the case with the recent update as it was a silent one, so there was no need to reboot the console after installing it.
Nintendo Switch is one of the fastest-selling gaming hardware released by Nintendo. It has passed more than 110 million sales in its five-year release cycle. Rumors suggest that Nintendo might be working on a successor to the Nintendo Switch that could launch in 2023.
