Sony Interactive Entertainment and Shift Up’s upcoming action adventure title, Stellar Blade, is the best selling game pre-order on PlayStation Store and Amazon.
As seen across all major PlayStation Store regions, Stellar Blade leads the pre-order charts as the best selling game. Additionally, it is also the best selling game on Amazon that has yet to be released, and the second best selling game overall, behind the recently released Prince Peach: Showtime!
Leading the way in the PlayStation Store’s pre-orders section in the US is Stellar Blade Digital Deluxe Edition, followed by Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail – Collector’s Edition, Sea of Thieves: Premium Edition, Stellar Blade: Standard Edition, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Edition, Destiny 2: The Final Shape + Annual Pass, Grounded, Sea of Thieves: Standard Edition, Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail – Standard Edition, Sea of Thieves: Deluxe Edition, and F1 24 Champions Edition.
It appears that the arrival of a playable demo for Stellar Blade has helped in building anticipation for the game. The demo offers a notable chunk of the opening section as well as some boss fights to give those who are on the fence some hands-on time with the game.
Combat in Stellar Blade puts emphasis on understanding enemy attack patterns and responding with well-timed counters. During a recent interview with Famitsu, Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung Tae highlighted a departure from conventional hack-and-slash gameplay. Instead of focusing solely on executing flashy combos, Stellar Blade emphasizes strategic engagement. Kim emphasized the importance of reading enemy attacks and responding tactically in the moment. He noted that while precise actions are important on their own, they also serve as an incentive to additional gameplay elements such as gauge filling and skill chaining. Kim suggested that players are expected to gradually adapt to this system, resulting in smoother and more dynamic battles within Stellar Blade.
Stellar Blade is set to launch on April 26, 2024, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
