Bandai Namco Entertainment Korea Inc. has received a 12 Parental Guidance rating from the Game Content Classification Board for their upcoming release, Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster, on the Nintendo Switch. The rating was issued due to the role-playing game’s constant battle scenes, as well as its depiction of mildly suggestive drinking scenes in a bar and the use of alcoholic items.
The Baten Kaitos series has returned in a fully remastered form for modern platforms, combining the 2003 title, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, with its 2006 prequel, Baten Kaitos Origins. The game’s upgraded graphics and range of new features make it easier to play than ever before.
Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster features a unique battle system that makes use of special cards called Magnus. As battles take place in real-time, players must make quick decisions on which Magnus to use, depending on whether it would be wiser to attack, defend, or heal. The battle system also includes more complex factors such as compatibility between enemy and Magnus elements, as well as combining Magnus to create special combos.
The game’s storyline centers around the main characters, Kalas and Xelha, as they journey to defeat the Alfard Empire and save the world from ruin. In the second game, players take on the role of Sagi, a recruit to the Dark Service who must uncover the truth behind the empire’s corruption and clear his name.
Baten Kaitos I & II HD is scheduled to launch in the Summer of 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. There is no official release date set for the game as of yet.
