Furthermore, boxer Raymond Ford has shared the aforementioned tweet on his Instagram stories, lending further credibility to the rumor. It’s also worth mentioning that, a few months ago, boxer Oscar De La Hoya shared the cover image from an Fight Night title and hinted at a new announcement, which likely may have been referring to a new entry in the series.
Fight Night Champion is a boxing video game developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts. Released in March 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it marks the final installment in the Fight Night series. Departing from its predecessors, the game adopts a grittier, darker tone, emphasizing realistic animations and player damage to portray the brutality of boxing. The game introduces Champion Mode, a Hollywood-inspired story following Andre Bishop, a boxer navigating obstacles like a prison sentence and corrupt promoters. The mode aimed to deepen the portrayal of boxing’s challenges.
Fight Night Champion introduces a new control scheme to the series called “Full-Spectrum Punch Control,” allowing players to throw punches onscreen by flicking the right control stick of their game controller. This method simplifies the control inputs compared to the previous “Total Punch Control” system, which required more complex manipulations of the controller. In addition to Full-Spectrum Punch Control, changes have been made to the secondary controller buttons used for uncommon and power punches. The “Haymaker modifier” from previous editions is replaced with a “power modifier,” enabling players to execute power punches by holding a specific button while punching.
