All of the remakes that are currently in development at Sega and Atlus are set for release on the Nintendo Switch 2, based on the latest rumor.
According to Twitter/X insider Midori, who is known for her insight on projects that are in development at Sega and Atlus, all remakes that are currently in development at both companies are set for release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The insider also mentioned that the upcoming Jet Set Radio title is a reboot that merges elements from both the original Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future. The development team is planning to offer multiple worlds upon release, suggesting that more will arrive post-launch. Midori also mentioned that 2026 is currently the game’s planned year of release. Furthermore, she said that a remake of the original Jet Set Radio is also in development, and that it is planned for release in the same year.
In response to a question regarding the possibility of Sega remakes arriving on the original Nintendo Switch, Midori said that the company will continue to release some remake titles on the current platform if it is technically feasible. However, she added that this may change in the future, depending on how quick Nintendo Switch 2 gains momentum in terms of sales.
Previously, the same insider had shared details regarding other remakes/reboots that are in development at Sega, including Crazy Taxi and Virtua Fighter. According to her, much like Jet set Radio, there is a remake and a reboot planned for Crazy Taxi. She said that the game revealed at The Game Awards 2023 is the Crazy Taxi reboot, and that it will feature online elements. It is said to be planned for release in 2027.
As for the Virtua Fighter series, she mentioned that a reboot is currently in development, though the developer isn’t Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The game is said to feature both single player and multiplayer content, and will target both casual and core audiences, including competitive players.
