Sega and Atlus’ Persona 1 and 2 will allegedly receive remakes alongside Persona 4, based on the latest information.
Twitter/X insider Midori has shared a follow-up tweet to their original comment on Persona 1 and 2, in which they stated that both games will receive remakes in the future.
However, when asked for clarification on whether this means they will be remasters or full-fledged remakes in the same vein as Persona 3: Reload, they responded by saying that, just to be safe, they will refer to them as “updated form” for now.
Based on the insider’s statement, it appears that both projects are currently in very early stages of development. As a result, it’s likely hard to tell the extent to which they will receive the remake treatment. Persona fans would undoubtedly like to see both games get the same improvements that are present in Persona 3: Reload.
Earlier, Reset Era member Head on the Block, previously known as Im a Hero Too, had stated that the Persona 1 and 2 projects aren’t remakes and would instead be remasters, where the new translation will be the selling point. They added that both remasters will be available on every console, including Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox.
As for Persona 3: Reload, the game’s producer Kazuhisa Wada recently asked in an interview about requests from fans regarding the female protagonist, who was added in Persona 3 Portable, and the likelihood of her being included in the remake in the future. Wada responded by saying that he felt really bad for not including the female protagonist, but, unfortunately, he confirmed that there is no chance of it happening. He mentioned that the development team had considered including a female protagonist, but there were too many hurdles involved. He added that it was expected to take a long development period and cost several times as much as Episode Aegis.
