Persona 3 Reload Producer Kazuhisa Wada has offered an explanation for the lack of a female protagonist in the role-playing game.
During an interview with Famitsu, Persona 3 Reload Producer Kazuhisa Wada was asked about requests from fans regarding the female protagonist, who was added in Persona 3 Portable, and the likelihood of her being included in the remake in the future.
Wada responded by saying that he felt really bad for not including the female protagonist, but, unfortunately, he confirmed that there is no chance of it happening. He mentioned that the development team had considered including a female protagonist, but there were too many hurdles involved. He added that it was expected to take a long development period and cost several times as much as Episode Aegis.
Additionally, Wada stated that the Persona team has a mission to work on not only remakes, but also completely new projects. Therefore, the development staff is working together to ensure that fans can also look forward to new entries in the series in future.
In response to a question regarding the release window for Episode Aegis, Wada mentioned that the DLC is currently about 40 to 50% complete. According to him, the overall base has been completed, so the development team will continue to create and improve the quality of each aspect. He said that the development team is aiming for a simultaneous worldwide launch in September, 2024.
Persona 3 Reload is a 2024 role-playing game developed and published by Atlus. It is a remake of Persona 3 (2006), the third main installment in the series. The protagonist is a high school student who returns to his home city ten years after his parents died in a car crash. He gains the ability to summon a Persona, the physical manifestation of his inner spirit, and joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (S.E.E.S.), a group of Persona users. Together, they aim to defeat Shadows and unravel the mystery of the Dark Hour, just like in the original game.
