A leaked trailer has recently unveiled the release date for Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, which is now scheduled to launch on July 12, 2023. The game was initially announced during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase on April 14, 2021, with a surprise reveal of the announcement trailer. The original release date was set for 2021 on Nintendo Switch and PC, but it was subsequently rescheduled to 2022.
Developed by Night School Studio and published by MWM Interactive, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals takes place five years after the events of the original Oxenfree game. The sequel follows Riley, an environmental researcher who returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate mysterious radio signals. What she discovers is more than she ever expected.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals invites players to shape every step of the story through their choices and actions. It can be played as a standalone story, or players can dive deeper by experiencing the original game first. As players progress through the game, their choices will determine Riley’s character development, relationships, and story options.
The game introduces an all-new walkie-talkie conversation system, allowing players to communicate with contacts and gather valuable information about the mysteries of Camena. Players can choose to engage with locals or ignore them entirely, with each decision carrying consequences.
A mysterious cult-like group called Parentage is deliberately attempting to open a new portal, following the events of the original Oxenfree, where teenagers unwittingly created a rift between realities and timelines. Players will be tasked with uncovering the group’s intentions and their connection to the ghostly signals disrupting Camena.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
