Sega and Atlus’ next entry in the Persona role-playing game series, Persona 6, is rumored to have a multiplatform release, including on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
According to the Twitter/X insider known as Midori, Persona 6 is set for a multiplaform release, as it will launch on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the PlayStation and PC versions. They revealed this information in response to a recent episode of DirectXbox on the Spawncast YouTube channel, in which guest Nate the Hate mentioned hearing about Persona 6 coming to Xbox platforms.
Nate had mentioned that Microsoft landing Persona 6 as a day one release on Xbox Game Pass alongside its launch would be significant deal. However, he noted that achieving this would require considerable effort from Microsoft, considering Persona 6’s status as the next mainline installment in the series. Nate highlighted the potential for a bidding war with Sony Interactive Entertainment over the game’s marketing rights. He said that while Microsoft has previously secured Persona remakes or remasters for Xbox Game Pass, getting the next mainline entry may be challenging, as it would also be on Sony Interactive Entertainment’ radar.
Previously, Reset Era insider Head on the Block, formerly known as Im a Hero Too on the forum, had shared that development on Persona 6 is 95% complete, and the game is set to be released sometime in the year 2025 along with DLC.
The insider shared that Atlus is looking at DLC from the perspective of being able to have smaller content on a consistent basis because development is taking longer, and post-launch content is very lucrative. They mentioned that development of Persona 6 was paused for some time in order to make sure there was a 2 to 3 year roadmap for DLC. As per them, in terms of the bigger picture, Sega wants every franchise to have some longevity with Live Service and DLC. They said that some games will work while others won’t, but so far the buzz has been “good”.
