Sony Interactive Entertainment and Shift Up’s upcoming action adventure game, Stellar Blade, is set to receive a post-launch update that will add a New Game Plus mode as well as free costumes.
Speaking during an interview, Shift Up CEO Kim Hyeong-tae mentioned that the development team will be working on a balance patch to make the game more enjoyable for all sorts of players. Plans to release DLC have not yet been decided, but free post-launch content such as additional costumes a New Game Plus mode are being worked on for Stellar Blade.
Kim clarified that Stella Blade’ does not require any additional purchases that players aren’t already aware of other than the cost of purchasing the game itself. The only exception is if the studio does costume collaborations with IP belonging to other companies. Such costumes may be sold for a fee. He further mentioned that thhere is no New Game Plus in the launch version of the game, though fans should expect it to be added via an update very soon.
In response to a question regarding the help Shift Up has received from Sony Interactive Entertainment with the development of Stellar Blade, technical director Lee Dong-gi said that the studio has collaborated closely with Sony in many ways. He explained that the Sony User Research team took charge of localization work and provided great help with QA and testing. Thanks to this, the studio was able to focus solely on completing the game.
Previously, it was reported that, across all major PlayStation Store regions, Stellar Blade has been leading the pre-order charts as the best selling game. Additionally, it has also been among the best selling game on Amazon. The arrival of a playable demo appears to have helped in building anticipation for the game. The demo offers a notable chunk of the opening section as well as some boss fights to give those who are on the fence some hands-on time with the game.
